Since 8 December 2023, EU wine rules (Regulation 2021/2117) allow producers to provide the ingredient list and nutrition declaration digitally — through a QR code on the bottle instead of printing everything on the label. This frees up label space, but it does not move every obligation off the package.
This page is practical guidance for using Vinum E-Label. It is not legal advice. Have your final labels reviewed by your compliance advisor for each market you sell in.

Core information to verify

A typical EU wine label review covers:
  • Clear designation of the wine
  • Actual alcoholic strength by volume
  • Nominal volume
  • Country of origin or protected designation (PDO/PGI)
  • Producer or bottler name and address
  • Allergen information (sulphites in particular)
  • Lot identification
  • Energy and nutrition information
  • Ingredient list

What goes where: bottle vs. e-label

Use the digital e-label page for the ingredient list and full nutrition declaration. Keep required on-pack details on the physical bottle.
The rules require the e-label page to be free of marketing and sales content, and it must not track users for commercial purposes. Vinum’s public label pages are built to meet this: no ads, no login, no marketing.

Common risk areas

Watch for these in every review:
  • Missing allergen or origin information
  • Wrong units or inconsistent measurements between bottle and page
  • Missing translations for the markets you sell in
  • QR codes that break, redirect elsewhere, or require login
  • Promotional content on the mandatory e-label page
  • Mismatch between the bottle label and the digital content
